By: Antonia Volkmar

The SOCHUM commission began its first day with the reading of the opening speeches.

The delegation of the Arab Republic of India expressed concern about the situation of organ trafficking. The Chinese delegation announced the outrageous amount of money organ traffickers earn each year, and also mentioned the plentiful number of people who are waiting for an organ transplant every day.

The Republic of China is completely against in relation to organ trafficking, alarmingly mentioning the use of the dark web to sell those organs. The Republic of Russia comments that the United States is not educating children on this subject, therefore they donate organs without being really aware of the subject, not even having the necessary basic measures. The Argentine delegation argues that delegations that do not have the resources of world powers find it more difficult to obtain the budget to educate people on this issue.

The delegation of the United Arab Emirates shows the graph showing that organ transplants are almost impossible to pay, since their prices are exaggerated. It proposes financial aid where the delegations have financing capacity. A comment made by the Russian delegation was added to the record: "Delegations such as Russia can offer help but this doesn't mean other delegations can live from these delegations"

In this session, the committee has been discussing among the delegations the probable solutions that can be carried out to control and end organ trafficking.

The delegation of Brazil proposes a solution for the South American countries. The committee is pronounced before the problem looking for economic aid and they propose the sale and purchase of organs as a legal business. The delegation of Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan proposes a plan that establishes that people who seek to sell their organs to obtain money, can do so in a safe and legal way and not see the need to sell them by means that are not safe and that violate their integrity.

Some of the proposals that have also been made are financing through different delegations. Security was one of the most discussed topics during the session, as some delegations were not comfortable with the proposals to legalize the purchase and sale of organs, for this reason the delegates were constantly asked to propose solutions.

Regarding organ trafficking, they showed the solution where the countries work together with proposals and also the delegations that have large incomes dedicate parts of them for donations where they support the people involved. One of the solutions they found for the dark web, which is used as a means for all these conflicts and problems that are already international, proposed greater security with respect to the technology of the moment.

A list of speakers was established in which most of the delegates were concerned about the vulnerability of people undergoing an organ transplant illegally. First Session Oct 21

The committee focuses on dealing with the crisis, some delegates criticize the Chinese delegation for being the first to be involved in the crisis. The Chinese delegation defines itself by saying that its delegation does not directly affect other delegations such as the United States delegation.

Some delegations propose solutions that focus more than anything on the human rights that have been violated in particular to the refugees from the Middle East. Delegations such as the United States propose a solution in relation to security, in concrete to reinforce security. Delegations such as Pakistan are afraid that the proposed solution regarding tightening security will take too long to implement. However, several delegations agree that there is no better solution than to reinforce security, even if it takes more than the established time. The committee proposes creating a court to sanction China's actions. The idea was to find a solution to the security problem, they will also look for both economic and financial resources to help the delegations involved.

Jordan's delegation summarized some of the solutions that will be implemented, the economic resources are setting a budget to finance the hospitals that do not have the health resources. Regarding the donor list, there are campaigns to inform people about organ donation and to promote information on how organs can be donated in a safe and healthy way.

It also proposes an investment in technology for the creation of medical devices that serve as organs.

The delegations of Jordan and Russia presented their decisive role, they propose to reinforce different countries in relation to their security with respect to organ trafficking. They also propose to encourage education in relation to these issues to avoid these types of problems such as poor treatment with respect to the organs that will be donated and the mishandling of information around this issue.

A short explanation is made of what the second topic of the debate will deal with.

Third Session Oct 21

By: Antonia Volkmar

The United States delegation establishes that immigrants who are arriving in delegations like China have what it takes to survive. However, they discussed illegal immigrants and asked for solutions to this problem. Various delegations were not only proposing solutions to end illegal immigration, but also asked to pay attention to different problems that were happening around the world such as lack of infrastructure, poverty, little attention to health services.

One of the most important topics discussed in this session was unemployment. The Chinese delegation commented that unemployment may have occurred, especially in delegations such as the United States, because young people no longer want to study and if young people no longer study, they will not be able to work.

Unemployment in China is three times higher than normal, the committee was too concerned about this issue, but this delegation defends itself by saying that people in China are capable of creating business for themselves. The US delegation proposes to focus on helping immigrants because moving to one side means that they cannot find a stable life in a single point.
